Hi,

I have a rebuilt by me carb 17058284. I have followed most of the advice in Cliff's Book.
0.067" UIAB
0.070" LIAB
0.037 Idle Tube
0.047 Idle Channel Restrictor
76 Jets and 50M rods.

The primary throttle shafts have been bushed last summer. The carb runs ok but is too slow on the secondaries so I will be attempting to drill out the restriction in the front choke pull-off a little.

The main air bleed seems to be 0.118". Now to be honest I am a little confused, I was under the impression this was a single main air bleed carb necessitating the M rods. However I just found a reference saying the carb came with 49 rods and 77 Jets, The carb had 49K rods initially but ran better (subjective I know) with the 50M rods.

it is sitting atop a 350 with Vortec Heads (modified for .525" lift) Edelbrock performer intake and a Lunati 262/268 Voodoo Flat Tappet Cam.

So long story short should I be moving back to the 49K rods with the 77 Jets? Also would I benefit from opening the Idle Channel Restrictor to around 0.050?

Thanks

Luke

Hopefully you put one of our kits in it.

We stock a much better metering rod for those units.  The large MAB carburetors are emission calibrated with "K" series metering rods, not "M" series.  The "K" rods, unfortunately do not provide enough room to tune them effectively with the APT system.  We use a full tapered rod instead with the .036" tips, which is a nice upgrade for those units.....Cliff
